2002 Martinborough Pinot Noir, Pencarrow, New Zealand $55.00
Pencarrow is the second label of Palliser Estates, both superb wines that have been hard to find in this market over the last couple of years. We took delievery in May 2005 from LCBO's Vintages store.
Colour: pale, red brick, rust. Nose: roasted cherry, strawberry, rhubarb, hint of clove and bell pepper. Finish: dry, spicy, moderately long, soft tannin. Conclusion: At five years, showing maturity, ready to drink, a great fruit and acid balance, keeps you coming back for more, Decant for ten minutes and try it with the rack of veal. Stephen Della Casa, August 26, 2007.
